Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, is a vibrant tribute to the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across the U.S. The celebration began in 1968 as a week-long observance, later expanded to a full month in 1988 to give more space to honor the diversity and creativity of these communities. The start date is especially meaningful, aligning with the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Mexico and Chile celebrating shortly after. For Splat, it’s a time to celebrate bold self-expression and the colorful traditions that inspire us, honoring the voices, stories, and styles that continue to shape culture and inspire creativity every day.
As a Latina, my hair is more than just hair. It is part of my identity, my culture, and my confidence.
